ナーサリィ☆ライムは…

Yes, I’ve actually managed to play for more than five minutes of the game, and I have to say that Nursery Rhyme is pretty good! Yay for Lump of Sugar, and yay for their first title! Admittedly I haven’t gone very far into the game, as I’m still on June 4 and have yet to pick whose route I would go with. But so far, it’s been really, really fun! It’s somewhat charming in its simplicity and slice-of-life moments, and despite the whole elf-human-lycan races and that their world contains magic, those aspects aren’t emphasized much or stand out as much as you think. It’s pretty…routine, but not in a boring way!

I’m actually confused as to who to go first! Makina and Yukina, the twins, are totally adorable (sorry, but no twincest for those who were expecting it), as they’re total opposites of each other such that they’re actually very complementary of each other. There’s also the osananajimi factor, which really plays a lot in how I chose which heroine route to go down on. But Teita has a lot of things going for her – blonde, tsundere, and an ojousama to boot! Kururu is also awesome, seeing as she’s quite an interesting character with a delicious flat chest talking meigurumi sidekick, with a foul mouth to boot. Their manzai dialogues with each other, while predictable due to the boke-tsukkomi humor, is still rather amusing, though I wish those portions had some sound effects to further emphasize the violence.

Sadly, Rin doesn’t pique my curiosity as much as the other characters even though her seiyuu is Noriko Rikimaru, whose most recent memorable role was Mashiro (!!!!!)! Despite her awesome voice actress, her character is just too uninteresting for me, and it’s just too bad. That and I’m not really into elf characters much, so it’s quite a shame. I don’t know if her route is actually worth it, but if it is, don’t hesitate to tell me!

Now, who to choose between Makina, Yukina, Teita and Kururu? As of the moment, Teita’s ranking has increased dramatically as she’s started acting less tsuntsun around Shizuma, and seeing her blush makes her look too cute. Argh, tsundere charm critical hit!

Also, thanks again to Mister Merryweather and his comments regarding Nursery Rhyme, as it’s really played a huge part in reviving my interest in this title. Without it, I might have completely forgotten about this game! I’m actually enjoying this one more than Princess Lover at the moment, though I know have to get back on that title sometime soon. Along with Kamipani, Fortune Arterial and Yoakena, especially since a new Yoakena title has been announced!

Why is it that when I saw “Makina,” I thought of that genre of music? >.>

I’m glad that you’re enjoying it! I’d also like to thank you for your multi-part entries on Lyrical Lyric since I wouldn’t have known about and played it. And you must really have a soft spot for the “dere” in “tsundere”; though I fall victim to that as well. XD

ha, i’m glad i’m not the only one who’s not so drawn to rin despite her va is the same as mashiro >.<

    for the rest of them…
    the twins are awesome
tiita is too awesome for words
and kururu is just kururu ._. …..until she “changed” , which nearly killed me from shock

    too bad there’re no scenes during that time ;__;

well who the hell cares tsunderes are a charm plus if someone notices all lump of sugar works have magic involved in each of their titles

Zeroblade: No idea what you mean there.

Mister Merryweather: IT IS AWESOME. And yes, the dere in tsundere is really what hits me the most, though I really prefer tsundere characters who aren’t tsunderes just for the sake of being or having a tsundere character. Thankfully there’s none of that in Nursery Rhyme, as Teita is <3!

Lyrical Lyric is okay, as are Marmalade's other games such as Miraroma and Konneko, but I personally prefer August's, Lump of Sugar's, and Yuzusoft's titles over Marmalade's. They're okay, but there's just something lacking in their games, unlike the aforementioned companies' titles. And I don't end up hating even one character from Lump of Sugar's, August's or Yuzusoft's games!

Just finished the twins, now I'm aiming for Teita. TEITA!

Also, TAKAMI RIN IS LOVE! AND SO IS TSUKIMIYA KAEDE OF MIRAROMA!

randompasserby: Yeah, it's just too sad. I don't personally hate Rin, I just don't like her as much as the other characters. Which is a damn shame.

Algester: The thing with tsundere as a charm is that, like most things, it can be lame when done excessively or needlessly. The best tsundere characters are the one who are so “naturally” tsundere that they don’t have to try and be tsundere, they just are. When you have characters acting all tsundere even though it doesn’t fit the character just because you want to have a tsundere character, then that’s where I just shrug and lose interest.

Also, yeah they have magic in all their titles, but it doesn’t bother me because it fits in so well.

@ Hemisphere: I think I do understand about your feeling of “something lacking” as well since I felt it too at least in Lyrical Lyric. I think it’s because there does not seem to be an actual climax. There is a conflict involving the two worlds but I never felt any sense of “danger” or “suspense” from it. Actually, I felt the whole “tuner” subplot was almost tacked on and that it could be done away without affecting the game at all which is a shame since I personally liked it. Fortunately, that did not stop me from enjoying the game and going all moe over Takami Rin, Arietta-hime, and Kuu. ;)

  7. Hemisphere says:

Yep, and that’s what made Lyrical Lyric feel a bit lackluster for me in retrospect. I mean, against titles from Yuzusoft and Lump of Sugar, Marmalade’s isn’t that bad, but it’s not that great either. Also, yeah, they could have just done away with the whole tuner subplot and the stories would be relatively unchanged.

I’m all moe for Takami Rin-sama and Arietta-hime myself, hahaha.
